TemplateData ist eine Möglichkeit, Informationen über Vorlagenparameter (die Beschreibung dieser und der gesamte Vorlage) für Menschen und Maschine lesbar zu speichern. Diese Technik wird vom VisualEditor und anderen Werkzeugen wie Upload Wizard genutzt. At Wikimedia Commons, there is the recommendation to either use {{TemplateBox}} with useTemplateData=1 or useTemplateData=only on the /doc subpage and transcluding it with {{Documentation}} into the template. <nowiki>-tags can be wrapped around the the arguments, if required, to avoid templates being expanded. Another option, especially for imported templates, or for users with JSON experience, is placing raw <templatedata>-tags into the Wikitext or the template.
