根據日本著作權法（2018年6月1日修正公布），本作品因著作權保護過期而屬於公有領域。根據該法第51、52、53與57條，於日本政府管轄區內發表的作品，於作者或創作者過世年份起（如有多名創作者，取最後一名之過世年份）50年後過期；如果作品創作者未知、匿名或著作權持有者為組織，則為發表之年份起50年後過期。

注意：2018年12月30日，日本著作權法已修正將其著作權保護期延長至70年。如果是1967年以後創作者過世的作品，請勿使用本模板。

如果本作品為1956年12月31日前發表的照片，請使用{{PD-Japan-oldphoto}}；如果是1953年以前發表的影片，請使用{{PD-Japan-film}}。公有領域作品必須在來源國與美國皆已過期的情形下，才能將其存放於維基共享資源。這類檔案必須增加美國著作權狀態的標籤。另請參考日本的著作權規定。
