Situated between Blackburn and Wilpshire, Brownhill has an estimated population of around 5948 <ref>http://www.blackburn.gov.uk/</ref>, 20% of which are from an ethnic minority background.  Brownhill sports a number of local businesses including Brownhill Pharmacy, Brownhill Post Office, Brownhill Arms <sub>Brownhill Arms: Situated approximately 0.3 miles from the notorious Ramsgreave and Wilpshire Train Station <ref>http://www.streetmap.co.uk/</ref>, known by locals as the Downhill Arms, suffers a yearly flood and carpets are replaced annually.  Best known for its warm and freindly atmosphere and succesful womens Dominoes team.</sub> and Videorama.

Brownhill has 3 churches (Holy Souls (Roman Catholic), St Gabriels (Church of England) and Trinity (Congregational)) but St Gabriels, founded in 1928 and located on Brownhill Drive, as become somewhat of a famous Blackburnian landmark over recent years due to its famous 'light-up' red Cross, which can be seen as far away as Clayton Le Moors (approx.8miles).

The BP garage in Brownhill offers 24hour fuel, off licence and grocery services.
 
Brownhill also boasts 4 quality hairdressers,  from the impressive Chic Hair Design to John Brown- local barber of Brownhill for many years. 
 
The Blackburn and over Darwen Tramways Act of 1879 was the first one in the country to authorize permission to allow trams powered solely by steam.  In 1902 the Blackburn cemetry route was extended to include Wilpshire.  <ref>http://www.cottontown.org/</ref>  Trams would pass through Brownhill everyday, and there is still evidence on the road of that today.
 
The native people of Brownhill will all agree that it is a beautiful and mostly peacful place to live, with very few accidents and natural disasters taking place.
